Is there a pre-amplifier(control) on the horizon?

@joeling Apologies for the delayed response. Forum has been down for a while due to a serious failure at our hosting provider (now changed)!

Its realistically going to be July. Price not set, but circa $2000 AUD.

Any more you can share about this? Presumably its class D, but maybe its passive and serves primarily as extra inputs and volume control for your existing amps? Will it be remote controlled? 12v trigger? :):):)

Hi @deigm

Class D is only appropriate for power amplifiers, so no the Upcoming Pre1 pre amp is based on some of the highest performing OP amps available. It is fully a fully differential (balanced) configuration.

The basic spec is:

3x balanced xlr inputs (fully compatible with RCA sources with adaptor cable)
1x RCA MM phono input
1x fixed level xlr balanced output (tape out)
1x fixed level rca output (tape out)
1x variable level xlr balanced output (volume controlled) 10v rms.
1x variable level rca output (volume controlled) 5v rms
2x 12v trigger outputs
Fully balanced topology
Remote controlled power, volume and input select.

Extraordinarily quiet and low distortion with Sinad >120dB.

I'm not 100% sure if the following Q should be linked to a pre-amp or amp thread so I'll just put it here.

Will / does this pre-amp and/or your amplifiers include Dirac Live?

Hi Alan - I have a pair of your P501 mono blocks - I have following this thread regarding your planned preamp - I am keen to purchase one - is there a confirmed release date on this as yet?

Just a few more minor details to take care if before we release the pre1, plus we are waiting for the remote control units to finish manufacture.

I'm also interested in this pre 1 with on-board phono preamp.
At the moment, topping pre90 could be a solution, but would require an external phono preamp like the Pro-Ject S3.
And I'd still need additional inputs for other sources.

It's here, we demoed it at the Sydney Hifi show last week.

Just going to be a few more weeks before its on the website.
