Looking for Brutal Feedback on My System...

Hey,

My first post.

Great to see a WA amp supplier receiving rave reviews and awards for their product, well done Alan.

I live in Nedlands (WA) and for the past month or so I've been reviewing DACs, receivers, power amps, speakers and just about everything else that makes a noise.

I'm not unhappy with my system but you know, you just gotta check shit out.

My system consists of...

- Cambridge Audio 740A integrated amp, 100wpc.
- Paradigm Monitor 11 v7 tower speakers.
- Marantz 5005 CD player.

I'd really value any feedback (warts and all) on my system and the following questions.

Particularly my amp.

I've been reading reviews on March amps and WOW!

So I have a coupla questions for you Alan and other forum members...

- In your opinion where do CA integrated amps sit in 'amp hierarchy' in terms of performance and sound?
- Would your P422 perform (sound) better than my CA amp?
- Would your P422 suit my speaker specs, refer here - https://www.paradigm.com/en/floorstanding/monitor-11
- Do different amps really make a difference?

Hi Peter and thanks for your questions.

The CA amps aren't bad at all, but technically they are not in the same league as our Purifi based amps. The technical improvements certainly do relate to improvements in sound quality.

The P422 will drive your speakers extremely well and get the best out of them.

Don't take my word for it however. I will probably be visiting Perth later next week and can arrange for a demo (at a good friends house). You will be able to hear our amps and speakers. This will give you a good idea of where your system sits in terms of sound quality.
