Broken power button?

Hi guys, I have a newish 282 and I'm loving it to bits.. but my power button doesn't seem to work any more.

The red back light turns on and off when you press it but the amp stays permanently on. It's not the end of the world and I can't really be bothered to ship it half way around the world for a warranty repair, but I'd be interested to know if anyone else experienced this and whether there was an easy fix ?

For example, is the switch a common COTS part that I can replace myself?

May I ask why haven't you contacted us for help and diagnosis? It may well not be the power button. In fact from your description, if its turning the light on and off, I can catagorically say it is not the power button.

This is not a fault we have seen before. In fact it sounds like the behaviour you would get if a trigger input is also being used, but that trigger is remaining active. The power button would be over-ridden. May I ask if the trigger input is being used?

In any case we would be very happy to assist you and fix this problem. The unit would also be under warranty. Under warranty we pay for all shipping and arrange a courier pick up of the unit.

For your own safety please do not open the unit and try and fix the the problem yourself. High voltages remain present in the amplifier after the mains power has been removed.

Appreciate the help. I'm happy to PM you, I was really just hoping for a quick fix without causing any hassle.

I'm not using the input trigger, but was planning to in future (which is why I'm not hugely concerned about the power button).

@libs That is quite bizarre that the piezoelectric switch suddenly failed like that, I understand things can fail but I figured that whilst these piezo switches can at times be finicky, in the long term they ought to be much more reliable than a mechanical switch, I'm assuming @Alan March would have utilised a decent brand like Schurter or APEM & not some generic cheapie alternative, one can't & should not assume all piezoelectric switches are created equal, hope you get it all sorted out soon.

Yes Piezo switches are extremely reliable, no moving parts. As I mentioned above this does not appear to be the switch and @libs is in contact so we ca work out a solution.

A quick comment of gratitude to @Alan March

Despite my best efforts to convince him to let me fix this with his help, he insisted on returning the unit at his cost and today a fully functional unit has just arrived at my door.. inside of two weeks.
