3-way Monitor

Hi Alan,

Is there any possibility of a 3-way monitor being developed with 1 or 2 of the Purifi 8" woofers and say a Purifi 4" and the Satori Be tweeter?

Something along those lines.

Something between a bookshelf and a tower, which can be stand-mounted. Like the JBL LSR6332 but brought up to date.

I hope so, as I would absolutely buy it if it's not too much more expensive.

As you know, I have the Sointuva's, but I would still buy this theoretical monitor.

Salk Sound actually suggested to me it wasn't possible to build such a monitor with the Purifi woofers, which surprised me. They suggested it would need to be a tower, like their BePure 3.

Hi @concorde

The main reason and benefit to having a 3 way speaker is so that you can match directivities more successfully between drivers. However, waveguide tweeters provide controlled directivity which solves that problem. Basically I consider waveguide tweeters essential in a 2 way. It makes the case for a 3 way difficult to justify in many respects.

For info we do have a very interesting new speaker being released in April, sounds like it may fit the bill 😉

I just noticed your last sentence. This surprises me also. No reason at all to say this couldnt be done. It can. However that doesnt necessarily mean its an idea that would work well/be cost effective/be advantageous.

Ah yes. My motive for wanting such a speaker is for more power handling/volume, but without having a massive floorstander. And I like big speakers :)
